Spinningfields: New kid on the blocks

 

Spinningfields is a modern regeneration of an area within the city creating what the financial times called “The Canary Wharf of the North”.

 

Home to the financial district in Manchester housing a range of global banking offices, the up market nature of the area is noticeable with every detail and building.  Sophistication rings through the squares and avenues.

 

Spinningfields sits between Deansgate and the River Irwell, whilst the majority is newly developed high rise blocks and buildings, sitting as a historic jewel in the Spinningfields crown is John Rylands library, here you can see the inspiration for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series of films.

What to see and do

The previously mentioned John Ryland’s library is a must visit to walk the historic halls and experience incredible architecture.  The People’s history museum is close by the banks of the Irwell where you can explore the challenges and fights of people through the ages.

Spinningfields is a prime spot as each corner you turn throws a new culinary experience and venue to try. From Sexy Fish, Tiffin tins, unlimited meats to rustic pizzas you will be hard pressed to not find a favourite eatery amongst those on offer in Spinningfields.

 

Throughout the year the 3rd Saturday of every month Spinningfields plays host to the artisan makers market, offering a range of foods, crafts and unique products from local traders.

Squares of activity

Hardman Square, Crown Square and Spinningfields Square, offer an urban oasis and a hive of pop-up events and activities throughout the year.  Sculpture installations, an exhibition of a bear from Peru with a fancy for Marmalade and a spot for the FanZone of the 2024 Paris Olympics are just a few of so many things that have been hosted and happened in the squares of Spinningfields.
